My Euro 2008 Team of Nations

I’ve always found it easier to pick “dream teams” with more restrictions imposed on me; choosing an all-time or current XI from among the world’s brightest stars is impossible, considering the calibre of player that must be left out to accommodate eleven players in a reasonable formation. Fortunately, picking an all-star XI from the European Championships is easier, and selecting only one player from each nation is even easier. Still, there’s plenty of room for debate, so have at it in the comments. Here are my picks, which I’ve dubbed the Euro 2008 Team of Nations.

GK: Boruc - Poland

RB: Ramos - Spain

CB: Nesta - Italy

CB: Ujfalusi - Czech Republic

LB: Lahm - Germany

RM: Arshavin - Russia

CM: Modric - Croatia

CM: Ribery - France

LM: Sneijder - Holland

CF: Ronaldo - Portugal

ST: Ibrahimovic - Sweden

Bench:

Chivu - Romania

Nihat - Turkey

Pogatetz - Poland Austria

Nikopolidis - Greece

Yakin - Switzerland

To clarify, this isn’t a team of players that’s been on form during Euro 2008, but a selection of players who have the quality and teamwork necessary to play together. Disagree? Leave a comment.

i think that there should be enough room for hamit altintop and david villa. no way nesta,Ujfalusi or Arshavin should be in the first team

Boruc is a good choice, he has been outstanding at the Euros.

Pogatetz is from Austria not Poland as you’ve put
